The Entities

The ancient architects behind every cape and Endbringer on Earth Bet.

The Entities are the cosmic progenitors behind every parahuman ability and Endbringer on Earth Bet. They are two sentient, god-like beings from outside our universe who arrived eons ago to engage in a war of survival across realities. Their conflict inadvertently shaped human history by seeding the planet with shards that grant powers.

Lore & Background

These beings exist beyond standard physics and travel between universes to fight for survival. Upon arriving at a new world, they scatter fragments of themselves called shards. These shards bond with living organisms, creating parahumans or, in specific cases, the monolithic threats known as Endbringers. The Entities require biological hosts to maintain their physical presence within this dimension; without one, they cannot interact directly. One Entity bonded with a human host who became known as Scion, while the other operated through a network of shards that formed the group Cauldron and created the Endbringers. Their war was not initially intended to involve humanity, but the fallout of their struggle caused centuries of trauma and destruction. By the end of their conflict on Earth Bet, both beings were neutralized, ending the cycle of shard arrivals.

In Their Own Story

The white light did not burn; it simply existed, filling the sky above a ruined city. Taylor stood amidst the wreckage, her vision shifting between human sight and something else entirely. She saw the threads connecting every cape she had ever known, stretching back to two colossal figures standing in the void beyond stars. They were not gods of creation, but refugees of war, desperate enough to break reality itself just to breathe. One of them fell silent as the light faded from his armor.

Reader's Guide

The Entities do not function as tradable artifacts but are the source code for all powers in the setting. Their mechanics involve dropping shards of their essence into new universes. These shards bond with living hosts, granting abilities ranging from minor quirks to reality warping. Some shards were designed specifically to create Endbringers, acting as weapons against other universes or threats. Limitations are severe: the Entities require a host to survive in this dimension. Without one, they fade. Their powers are not directly controlled by users; instead, users control their specific shard's function. In combat, parahumans utilize these grants defensively or offensively without knowing the origin until late in the timeline. Known users include every cape on Earth Bet and Scion himself. The Entities were utilized indirectly through the Endbringers to test humanity's resilience. Ultimately, the power of one Entity was used by Taylor Hebert to destroy the other. This highlights that while the source is cosmic, its application depends entirely on human agency and shard compatibility.
